​​Across the U.S., more families are affected by the current economic situation and are trying to stretch their limited resources to cover basic necessities. People become homeless for many reasons - a lack of affordable housing, unemployment, limited access to resources and supports, health and mental health issues and experiences of violence. The process of becoming homeless involves the loss of one's belongings, reassuring routines, community and sense of safety. When you live on the streets, you experience this process over and over again; sometimes weekly, sometimes daily. Each time it rains or snows a homeless person who lives on the street loses everything.​
